Our Easter Foal

Fayzona has been wonderful! I worried she would be upset with giving birth in a stall as she had with her first foal she had here but she retained her gentle attitude towards me and I think even waited for me to foal! As always she has been a a great mom and had that baby nursing on his own in no time. Mom and foal are doing very well and we are calling him Dually..He is very large about 130 pounds and all legs going to have his sires loooong stride!

Fayzona has white milk this morning. I have never seen her bag this big or have white milk how much longer can she hold out I sure hope the Easter Bunny is good to us!

Today is 340 days for Fayzona still not much of an udder but more then she has had with her last two deliveries. I am able to express milk and it was cloudy this morning I was surprised! Zoe's belly continues to grow and grow. The foal was extremely active yesterday. Any day now!

Fayzona foal watch update 4/5/09 336 days

Zoe has a good size bag now and has had for about 3 days. This has not been her normal pattern in the past. My thoughts are we have a bit more time before we will see a foal BUT it was with that line of thinking that I missed her foaling in 2005. She took me by complete surprise. I was sure I had about a week before she would go with both her 2005 and 2007 foals. She had a very small udder and showed no normal signs of discomfort. In 2007 with her last foal she just laid down then got up circled and laid back down and there were feet. I was watching her like a hawk so I wouldn't miss the big event. Sure makes me glad my other mares are so obvious about there impending foalings.
Maybe we will have an Easter surprise.
