Busy Busy!! Seni foaled a beautiful filly 5/22/10 sired by HW Satin Prince of Azure Arabians.

Wispering Dream my (wish I ten just like her) Pure Polish *Gondolier daughter is starting to bag up now she will be 340 days 8/4/10. I am anticipating a 315-320 day gestation so mid- July. Very excited to see this foal, she was bred to my Straight Russian stallion Prowlerr. I am hoping for a filly from Dream this time.

All of our foals our growing like weeds. I could just sit and watch them playing all day.

Our Grandkids brought home 2 minis in November, a black mare and a bay stallion, who had been kept together by the previous owner.
A little package is about to arrive and it is not from the Easter bunny!
Beauty (the mare) is huge and has a large bag tonight with white milk.
Beauty has had at least one other foal that we know of so we expect she will be a great mom.

Cricket and Filly Bree , foaled 3/23/10 are doing wonderful! Bree has inherited her sire and dam's size , color and athletic moves WOW she is going to be a looker just like big sister Journey.

Bint Padrona, a maiden is waiting in the wings she is also in foal to Prowlerr 340 days April 17th but I don't think she will hold out that long.

Annie our black Arabian mare is also a maiden is in foal to Gunner and 340 days will be April 15th. Annie is making good progress and and looking like may foal before her due date also!

Foaling Watch Update for 1/17/10

Kisses is still looking big but other then wanting to be by herself has made no new changes and I don't expect her to for another week or so. She likes to wait until the last week before bagging up. She might even make the 365 days mark this year?!

Moonie had a couple of very uncomfortable days earlier this week, pinning her ears at her herd mates and eating very little. Foal must have been positioning as she doesn't even look pregnant anymore! She has a good size bag now and I think we are about 5-8 days from foaling. Although she may surprise me and decide to finish bagging very quickly.

Beauty Mini Mare Due???????

In November our grandchildren had two minis follow them home!! A black registered mare and a bay unregistered stallion. The two are very cute but I fear we maybe adding a wee little one sooner then later. The grandchildren are thrilled that there maybe a bundle coming but not knowing a due date is a bit scary for grandma!
The pervious owner said "due this summer if bred " but the pair has been together since last Jan., when the pervious owner bought them. I think summer maybe wishful thinking. Both are decked out in winter woolies so it is difficult to really gage how big Beauty's belly really is. We will just keep watching and monitoring her looking for any changes in her udder and shape.

Kisses Mini Donkey Due to Foal Jan. 2010

Mrs. Kisses our only mini jenny is getting to be a wide load!

She was bred Feb. 5th & 6th 2009. This will be her fourth foal with Eeyore. With the first three she foaled right around day 355 of gestation, so we are looking at the last week of Jan. as her due date.

Kisses is on cam in the evenings and during icky weather. Right now she has a roommate our 2009 foal Dually.

Kisses was our very first Marestare foaling back on December 18, 2005 with her first foal Squirt.

Kisses was also "mom" to our orphaned Arabian filly Journey in 2008.

She is a special friend to all here and we would realllly be thrilled if she would bless us with a carbon copy of herself. Three handsome jacks so far ...thinking PINK!

Fall Update

Summer has passed by once again all to fast!

Our only foal this year was born Easter Sunday in April. Dually is now weaned and will be moving to his new home in the upcoming weeks. He is such a big laid back colt I forget that he is just a weanling, he seems like one of the adult horses already.

In June we added a pony to the herd she will most likely be on the sales list as I am to big to ride her and the grandkids are not ready for a large pony yet.

Pisttol one of our 2008 Pintabian colts moved to his new home in Ohio.

Eeyore x Kisses' little jack that was foaled in Aug. 2008 left for his new home.

Nasheeta (the mare that was staying here to foal) and her colt left for home the end of June.

In August my new mare arrived! Be A Sensation is a bay and is in foal for a May 2010 foal.

In September the mini stallion Lucky and the mini mare Montana that had been staying with us went home. We sure do miss them they were so cute. The kids just loved taking care of them.

Dezzie a Half-Arabian grey mare left for her new home.

We are expecting two early foals this upcoming year. Moonie and Kisses are due in early Feb might even be late Jan. What on earth was I thinking!??! I hate the cold.
on the bright side maybe winter won't seem so looong if I am on foal watch.

Nasheeta is looking like she could go anytime. Her udder is now full and she has had some shape changes. Milk is cloudy as of this morning.

Nasheeta is a clients mare and will be staying with us to foal.
Nasheeta is a 1992 Bay Registered Arabian mare and is in foal to *Dante LCR an imported Shagya Arabian. 340 days will be May 30th.
Nasheeta arrived here about two weeks ago and has settled in well. She has a past injury to her right hock that causes her to favor it occasionally. I have also been working with her on allowing me to touch her udder. This was an issue with her last foal and I am hoping that we can convince her that it is ok for the foal to nurse. Other then the please don't touch my udder hind leg stomp this mare is a gem and I can see why her human mom loves her very much!

Fayzona has been wonderful! I worried she would be upset with giving birth in a stall as she had with her first foal she had here but she retained her gentle attitude towards me and I think even waited for me to foal! As always she has been a a great mom and had that baby nursing on his own in no time. Mom and foal are doing very well and we are calling him Dually..He is very large about 130 pounds and all legs going to have his sires loooong stride!

Today is 340 days for Fayzona still not much of an udder but more then she has had with her last two deliveries. I am able to express milk and it was cloudy this morning I was surprised! Zoe's belly continues to grow and grow. The foal was extremely active yesterday. Any day now!

Zoe has a good size bag now and has had for about 3 days. This has not been her normal pattern in the past. My thoughts are we have a bit more time before we will see a foal BUT it was with that line of thinking that I missed her foaling in 2005. She took me by complete surprise. I was sure I had about a week before she would go with both her 2005 and 2007 foals. She had a very small udder and showed no normal signs of discomfort. In 2007 with her last foal she just laid down then got up circled and laid back down and there were feet. I was watching her like a hawk so I wouldn't miss the big event. Sure makes me glad my other mares are so obvious about there impending foalings.
Maybe we will have an Easter surprise.

BHR Fayzona "Zoe" is taking her sweet time baking this foal.
We have had lots of visitors to the farm in the last month and everyone says "she looks huge" . hmmm I was thinking she isn't near as big as she was with her last foal. I am betting it is a filly this time.
As of today Zoe has very little udder development. With previous pregnancies she has never filled her bag or waxed before foaling and in fact she has given me little to no warning that she would foal. Very sneaky! Zoe also likes the privacy and quietness that the middle of the night brings. Both of her past foalings here where between 2 - 4 am.
Zoe is a mellow shy horse who can be a bit stand-offish with me, her lack of human companionship the first years of her life has made her just a bit independent. I will now be spending a bit more time with my Zoe trying to bond a bit before foaling.

Zuri has found a new home!
I bought Zuri last Aug. She was at a stable not very far away and needed a new home ASAP. She was a nervous thin horse upon arrival but the more I got to know her the sweeter she was.
I have tried really hard not to become attached as I knew she was only going to be here until I could find her "her own" home and person but it is always hard to see them leave. I made a point to spent some special time saying good bye to Zuri this morning but it will be hardest when it is time to feed this evening and she isn't there.
I am very happy she has found someone to love her and I wish her new owner much happiness with Zuri.

Our Journey With an Orphaned Foal

My wonderful Arabian mare High Mystress "Tessie" gave birth to a large bay filly. Shortly after foaling Tessie was lost due to a uterine artery rupture.
Tessie was a beautiful mare and an awesome mom and it was extremely hard to say good-bye on a day that should have been filled with joy.
Tessie gifted us with our first foal by our stallion Prowlerr and what a treasure our Journey has been! This has been my first experience with raising an orphan foal and it has been much easier then I anticipated. Journey took to bottle feeding very quickly being a healthy foal who received colostrum right away and a visit from a very kind knowledgeable equine vet she never encountered any health issues. My husband and daughters all took shifts with bottle feedings the first week and then we introduced the momma igloo and Kisses the mini jenny. Kisses stepped in as the babysitter and did a great job of teaching Journey the ways of the world.
Journey is now a big (14HH already) gorgeous yearling. Hard to believe that a year has pasted but time marches on!

Zoe is our gentle GAINT. A friend to all in the pasture but a little shy of people. Being raised on a PMU farm she had little handling and lots of acres to roam. In the last year Zoe has really come around and will be standing at the gate waiting for me and loves to have her forehead rubbed.We purchased Zoe in 2004 with a filly at side and in foal with our stallion Gunner. Zoe is a daughter of the black stallion Hosan a Raffon grandson.

Zoe is branded with the number 2 and BHR (Bryant Horse Ranch her breeder's farm name). Zoe also has a scar/blemish on her hock on the same side as her brands. I was told when we purchased her that she had her leg get caught in the strap on a hoof trimming table.

Zoe has had 2 foals for us and with both colts she foaled right around day 330 between 2:30-4:30AM. No waxing or dripping just a bit of restlessness for a few hours before foaling. With her first foal for us she was a monster after giving birth wanted no one to come near her and stepped on her foal Gunner. He was sporting some pretty good wounds for a while but all the extra handling really helped Zoes attitude and with her last foal in 2007 Shaadow she was wonderful to be around. She has had sometime off as a broodmare so I am hoping she has retained her wonderful attitude.

This foal is by Prowlerr our Straight Russian stallion. I expect this foal to have just a bit of size to it as both sire and dam are BIG.

VERY unplanned foal. Dezzi's dam, My Easter Bonnet a 15.1 HH chestnut Half-Arabian, was our girls
4-H mount and suffered from cushing disease. We let My Easter Bonnet and HP Abar Nibal a 15HH grey, pasture together after a vet told us she would never get in foal. SURPRISE
We have Dizzy Dezzi.
Dezzi is my #1 pain in the butt! No fence can keep her in and she is the biggest clown. She acts more like a dog then a horse and looks like a tank.
I just recently started Dezzi under saddle and she is a blast to work with ...who says you can't wait till there eight yrs old to start them under saddle!.

Another very thin mare. It is so sad to see these horses in poor condition. A couple owned this mare for the past 4 years and have been trying to sell her for 3 yrs. The couple purchased the horses for there daughters, but after only a month they lost all interest.
A 15HH 1993 registered Arabian mare with tons of trail experience, been in parades, mounted shooting ect.. so far I have yet to find a thing I don't like about her personality. She is so sweet! After a bit of weight gain I will see how well she does under saddle. She has a beautiful long stride and appears as though she will be a very comfortable ride!

8/14/08 Brought this thin mare to my farm from a boarding stable pervious owner HAD TO SELL ASAP. I felt bad wasn't to far away so I went and paid the $200.00 the owner was asking for her. Miss Zuri is a 3 yr old Half-Arabian (15/16th) . Have no idea why I bought her someone must have a plan I don't know about yet.

The mare was pretty spooky and nervous at first and missing a large amount of hair on her croup took her a few days to settle in and eat in her stall without being in a flight stance.
